How To Have A Happier Healthier Life In The New Decade

Every year people make new years resolutions and vow to make the upcoming year better than the last. However, the problem with these resolutions is that they’re usually short-lived. Then, soon after the new year old habits set in and another year is lost. This year, as it’s the start of a new decade, I challenge you to make this year the best year ever by doing things you may not have ever done before. In this blog, you will learn how to make this year, and upcoming decade, a happier, healthier one for you.

How to develop a happier, healthier life in the new decade:

1) Don’t Set New Years Resolutions

Rather than setting short-lived resolutions, commit to setting intentions and get a clear vision on what you want for your life. One way to do this is to take a look at each area of your life and ask yourself if you are where you want to be right now. If the answer is no, determine where you want to be and begin to develop action steps that will get you there. I use the Create & Manifest Your Vision workbook each year to get clear on my intentions for the new year. Check it out. I am sure it will help you too.

2) Know Your Intentions

The only way to truly accomplish your best life is to make sure you remind yourself each day what your intentions are. If you are not continually reminding yourself about what it’s important to you, it’s easy to get caught up in daily life and forget about your true vision and desires. I suggest that you write each intention down place them somewhere you will look at them each day. You may choose to write them in a journal and look at them each morning and night before bed. However, in a closed journal it is easy to forget about them. Even better, like David Goggins suggests in his book Can’t Hurt Me, write down all your intentions on a sticky note and place them on your bathroom mirror. Then everyday you see them declare your intentions and set yourself up for success.

3) Develop Action Steps

It may be easy to set goals and intentions. The hard part is doing it. That’s why you must develop clear actions steps to take each day to get you closer to your best life. It’s the small, daily activities such as reminding yourself of your intentions, staying positive, surrounding yourself with supportive people and any other actives that will get you to where you want to go.

Many people think it’s the big leaps that are the most important. However, it’s the small daily steps that get you the closest to your goals. It may hard to know what steps are the best. Find someone, like a coach, to help you develop your actions steps if you are not sure how to get from where you are now to where you want to be in your life.

4) Stay Accountable

You have set your intentions. You know your intentions and they are clear in your mind. You have your action steps and you are ready to get going. Now, you must develop a system of accountability. If this accountability system is not set up you are bound to fail. Everyone needs to be held accountable for their actions, or it’s easy to let your intentions and goals slip away. Think of an athlete. If his or her coach was not there waiting for them to train do you think the athlete would be up and in the gym at four o’clock in the morning? Probably not. They would come up with some excuse to sleep in and train later. The problem is, later often never comes. When you have someone holding you accountable, or depending on you to show up, it’s easier to stay the course.

That’s why hiring a coach to help you do this might be the best investment you’ve ever made. The top athletes and professionals in the world understand that having a coach to help them reach their destination is a worthwhile investment. If you learn about how to maximize your financial success from gurus such as T. Harv Eker, they will tell you that you must budget for and invest in education and your personal development to develop true success.

5) Believe You Deserve It

One of the biggest reasons why people fail to accomplish their greatest potential in life is because they don’t believe they deserve it. I felt this way for a long time and it held me back in my professional and personal life. However, after many years of personal development, training and working with some the best coaches, I now believe that I deserve happiness, great health and success. I want that for you as well.

When you love yourself enough you will believe you are good enough and deserve to have all the things you desire for your life. When you truly feel this way, your entire world will change for the better. However, I get it. It’s not always easy to believe in yourself at first. That’s why surrounding yourself with loving and supportive people who want to see you success and have a happy, healthy life is important.

One of the best ways to begin to enhance this belief in yourself is to take time for self-care through reflection, contemplation and meditation. When you take a few minutes each day to calm the mind and body, you will begin to hear the answers to the questions you have and become clear as to how to proceed in your life. This is your opportunity to tune in to your divine self, the Universe, the supreme soul, mother earth, God; whatever you want to call it and get clear.
